We reached Dieppe after 5.5 hours drive from the Hague. It's the first sea-side resort over here, and is still very popular with locals and visitors from across the british channel. It was very crowded when we arrived and the seaside promenade was filled with cars. Our hotel (Windsor, Bld de Verdun) is a 4 storey building sandwiched between a long row of hotels and apartments along the promenade facing the sea. It does'nt look very impressive from outside, but the rooms look like they've recently been refurbished, and it's quite large with separate toilet and bathroom.

We managed to have a walk around town in the late afternoon (aroun 5.30pm) before the shops closed. There's a market every Saturday all over the narrow streets in the center of the town, but it was rather late and the stalls were all dismantling at the time. Cafes, pattiseries and speciality shops selling chocs, seafood and other fresh produce abound. We tried out a freshly made cheesecake from Olivier (Rue St Jacques), and it was delicious - light, frothy and cool straight from the refrigerator. We bought some other pastries and cold cuts from other pattiseries in town and they were all good. Not surprising i guess for a town that has 3 michellin-starred restaurants in a relatively small area.

As we were not too hungry after all the snacks, we decided to take a drive to Aachan supermarket which is just on the outskirts of town 5 minutes drive away. It's part of a huge compex with other shops as well. Bought some water, wine and fruits. Walking back to the hotel, we came across a small pizzeria a few dooors away. It was crowded and the pizza looks delicious. We decided to takeaway a Dundee (salmon, artichokes and cream) - it was already cut into bite size cubes. Absolutely delicious..
